Validity of self-assessment of professionalism in undergraduate chilean kinesiology students

This study validated the cross-cultural adaptation of the Core Values Self-Assessment (CVSA) to evaluate professionalism in undergraduate kinesiology students. Conducted as a cross-sectional study with nonprobability sampling and correlational analysis, 131 students participated, yielding a response rate of 81.8% after providing informed consent. The instrument demonstrated robust content validity (CVI = 0.61) and high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha α = 0.929. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) identified a five-factor structure (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value = 0.872, p < 0.0001), supporting its psychometrics properties. These findings suggest that the adapted CVSA is a reliable tool for assessing and monitoring professionalism in novice Kinesiology students, providing insights for educational practices and further investigation.
