dc.description.abstractOrthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is severely affected by the frequency offset because of it causes inter-carrier interference (ICI). ICI can be diminished with the assistance of any pulse that complies the 1 st Nyquist criterion. In addition, pulses matched between the transmitter and receiver are required in order to synchronize the OFDM symbols. In this work, the improved double-jump 2 (IDJ2) pulse is introduced in overall OFDM schemes prone to frequency offset Following a heuristic approach, the sub-optimum IDJ2 pulse is found in a representative system configuration. For diverse signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), normalized frequency offsets, and subcarrier modulation formats, the proposed pulse is analytically and numerically contrasted with the most recent and best performing Nyquist-I pulses for the first time. Results demonstrate the superiority of the IDJ2 pulse regarding the other pulses in terms of the bit error rate (BER).es_CL
